G-11 sector residents of Islamabad are victims of a serious issue
these days as the sewerage water is getting mixed with the drinking water and
this issue has been going on for some days now. This issue has been raised to
the authorities but to no avail as the issue still remains unresolved while the
contaminated water continues to spread disease in the area.
People are compelled to drink this water which is by no
means fit for drinking. It is quite evident that at a few points the sewerage
water is muddling up with the proper drinking water but the authorities are
taking no actions in this regard. Several complaints were launched and the CDA
did send some people who dug into some places but left their job undone leaving
the people again on the mercy of this polluted water. CDA Chairman Mr. Farkhand
Iqbal was contacted by the locals and was asked to take personal interest in
the matter.
On the other hand some areas in Rawalpindi Cantonment are
not having drinking water at all, particularly lane 6 and 7 because water
pipelines are going through some developmental work and it damaged the water
pipelines of these lanes. For this purpose, Engineer Water Attiq Chaudhry was
contacted who told that construction work on Peshawar Road was the reason behind this
issue as it was started without prior arrangements that were necessary. The
utility services were not transferred to the related servers and thus the areas
adjacent areas are facing the problem.
The residents demand a quick restoration of the water
supplies from RCB as intensive heat and load shedding have already made it
difficult to live and now this water outage has almost made it impossible for
the residents to fight this hot summer out.
